Sky Studios Elstree is the UK's newest, state-of-the-art film and TV studio. With 12 sound stages, the studio will enable £3bn of production investment over the first five years of operation. It represents a significant investment in the UK and European creative economy from Sky and sister company NBCUniversal, both part of Comcast Group.


The studio will create thousands of jobs, become a training ground for the next generation of young talent and has been built with sustainability at the heart.

Apprenticeship and work experience programmes

Sky Studios Elstree offers exciting opportunities to work on a vibrant studio lot or with state-of-the-art equipment at Universal Production Services. The Future Talent Programme (previously called ‘Content Academy’) is a 12-month paid placement centred around giving entry level experience to help boost your career in Film and TV.

Set in our brand-new film studio in Elstree and Borehamwood as well as the Universal Production Services warehouse down the road, the programme will support you through your first year in the industry. You will receive bespoke development throughout the year from our Talent Manager and surrounding studio teams to get you ready to move into other studio or production roles at the end of the programme. 

The Future Talent Programme is a great way to start your career in the screen industries. The aim of the year is to give you a broad range of knowledge about the industry, experiences in the studio and on set, and provide you with the opportunity to make contacts that can help your future career.

It will also give you the skills needed to work in a production environment and give firsthand experience in how to work successfully with the various departments and crew members. Depending on your career interests it can lead into roles within Sky, studio management roles at Sky Studios Elstree, roles at Universal Production Services, or it can give you a step up into the freelance world. 

Sky Up Academy Studios Elstree

Later this year, Sky Studios Elstree will be opening its doors to young people with, Sky Up Academy Studios. This experience will deliver an action-packed learning environment and open the door to the creative world of film and TV, helping students to understand the full process from ‘script to screen’. Sky Up Academy Studios will provide 10,000 students between the age of 11-18 every year with the opportunity to create their own exciting content using cutting edge digital technology , inspiring students to see the range of roles and opportunities in the TV and Film world. Sky Up Academy Studios has already been set up across other Sky sites, welcoming over 210,000 young people across Europe.

 

Sign-ups for schools for the Sky Up Academy Studios will open in Summer 2024.
