This is a part time course covering one year. The level 2 Diploma site carpentry is available at the St Albans campus. This course is designed to give learners their first experiences and insight into site carpentry. The aim of the course is to put in place all the basic skills and knowledge that is required to become a good site carpenter. It consists of three core units: Know how to carry out safe working practices, Knowledge of information, quantities and communicating with others and Knowledge of building methods and construction technology. In addition you will study five trade units: First fixing operations, Second fixing, Erect structural carcassing, Carry out maintenance, set up & operate circular saw. All theory is practically assessed and supported with assignments. On completion of the practical work there is a 18 hour synoptic test to be passed.
