SCHOOL LEAVERS

Oaklands College offer prospective students leaving School a variety of full-time and part-time study programmes available at both our St Albans and Welwyn Garden City campuses, with a further provision opened in Borehamwood.

Students can study from Arts, Media, Health & Social Care, Public Services, Construction, Horticulture, Equine, Beauty and Forensic Science to name a few.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE/STUDY PROGRAMMES

Oaklands College have collectively offered students over 110,000 hours of work experience through the college.

 

APPRENTICESHIPS

 

Apprenticeships at Oaklands College enable students to begin their pathway to employment, developing relevant industry work experience whilst they study, earn money and gain the qualifications they need to success in the working environment.

An opportunity to achieve structured, high quality learning and valuable work-based skills and knowledge, Apprenticeships at Oaklands College are becoming a popular, high demand education provision.

Prospective students can apply for an Apprenticeship whilst undertaking GCSEs or A-Level examinations, upon signing up for an Apprenticeship course at Oaklands.

An Apprenticeship is an opportunity to achieve recognition of structured high quality learning and valuable work-based skills & knowledge. Apprenticeships currently include Technical Knowledge and Work-based Skills alongside Functional Maths, English and ICT.

The new Apprenticeship Standards similarly focus on Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours alongside Maths, English and ICT. The assessment of competence may be achieved and accredited through ongoing assessment throughout your Apprenticeship or via synoptic assessment at the end of your Apprenticeship depending on the structure of it.

 

HIGHER EDUCATION

 

Our Higher Education (HE) Courses here at Oaklands will help students get to where they want to go. HE Courses at Oaklands College offer student’s lower tuition fees, savings on accommodation costs, the ability to work full or part-time all year round and the opportunity to partake in real work experience within their chosen industry to improve their employability post college.

 

SUPPORT FOR EMPLOYERS

 

In line with our Apprenticeship provision at Oaklands College, we actively support local community businesses and organisations, holding bespoke Business Lunches with local companies to build a lasting relationship that enabled the college to provide students as part of their work experience. The college holds work experience in high regard for our students and all students studying at Oaklands College are required to complete a variety of work experience placements in line with their chosen study.
