SCHOOL LEAVERS
Elstree Screen Arts Academy offers a range of Level 2 and Level 3 courses specialising in creative media arts, performance and production technologies. Our curriculum is designed to ensure strong foundations in fundamental academic subjects and build on these with vocational, expressive and industry relevant studies. Students can join us in year 10 to enter Key Stage 4, Year 12 to enter Key Stage 5 or in Year 14 as part of our CraftSkills Traineeship. We offer learners aged 14 to 19 a different kind of education to mainstream secondary schools. Firstly we are a specialist University Technical College so the learning environment is ‘grown up’. Students will need to have a passion for our specialisms, be personally motivated and ready to work a longer college day. They will learn how to be professional and employable and how to learn flexibly as technology is media arts practice is evolving every day in our industry.
WORK EXPERIENCE/STUDY PROGRAMMES
We support our taught curriculum with our extended projects offer. Our industry partners, along with our own media production company provides opportunities for students to experience working in the technical arts and culture industry. Our links with internationally renowned industry partners offer specialist industry experiences to support students in their chosen specialism.

HIGHER EDUCATION
Elstree Screen Arts Academy, partnered with ScreenSkills and The National Film and Television School (NFTS) also offer a Film and TV specialist traineeship - six practical courses that provide 18-19 year olds with industry-recognised UK craft certificates for film and TV. The six craft courses in lighting, grip, hair & make-up, costume, art direction and production assistant will be delivered by Elstree Screen Arts, in partnership with NFTS, Elstree Film Studios and BECTU Grips and Crane Technicians Branch. Taught by craft specific tutors alongside film & TV professionals, through a combination of practical training in person, online tutorials, workshops, masterclasses and mentoring support, from September – April. Work experience modules are included as part of the programme.
In recognition of this programme, ESA has been designated a UK Centre of Screen Excellence and supported by ScreenSkills as part of the BFI Future Film Skills programme using funds from The National Lottery.

SUPPORT FOR EMPLOYERS
ESA works with industry partners to provide a relevant and exciting curriculum offer for students that develops skills that the creative entertainment industry is in need of. We exist to support the skills gap within this industry and the experiences and learning that students receive aims to build a portfolio in a specialism that enables them to find a career in this sector. We actively work with partners to provide industry experience, employer engagements and opportunities in order to inspire students and prepare them for work.
ESA is dedicated to providing an education which supports student’s personal development, we have impressive, dedicated specialist teaching spaces including recording studios, podcast and editing suites and industry standard equipment that offers our students the best opportunity to develop technical skills so that they are prepared for industry careers.
In addition to our courses, students get opportunities to be student leaders, mentors and to work for our own in house media production company where we run a slate of real industry productions including for Sky, MOBO Unsung, Apples and Snakes, the National Portrait Gallery, the Royal Opera House Bridge and a number of other clients.
