Microgeneration (MCS)

MCS is an industry-led quality assurance scheme, which demonstrates the quality and reliability of approved products and installation companies. Being MCS certified demonstrates to customers that you install/manufacture to the industry-expected level of quality every time. MCS gives you a mark of quality which provides assurance. To become an MCS certified installer, you will need to be assessed against the MCS 001-1 Standard and the specific technical Standard for the technology you wish to become certified for. If you are looking to become certified it is important to familiarise yourself with the appropriate Standards and be able to demonstrate how your company complies with their requirements.

PAS 2035

PAS 2035 is the British standard for retrofitting dwellings.  PAS 2035 is a phrase that’s mentioned quite frequently by building professionals when they talk about retrofit. PAS 2035 is a set of guidelines published by the British Standards Institute (BSI) which apply to retrofitting homes.

First published in 2019, the standard outlines how retrofit projects should be managed and delivered. Compliance with PAS 2035 is a requirement of all retrofit programmes.  PAS 2035 was published following the Each Home Counts review in 2018, which uncovered systemic failures and poor standards in retrofit delivery. The review recommended an industry-wide code of practice, which led to the publication of PAS 2035 in 2019.PAS 2035 stipulates that a Retrofit Assessor and Retrofit Coordinator.

TrustMark

TrustMark is the UK Government-Endorsed Quality Scheme for home improvements carried out in and around the home. TrustMark is a searchable platform to source competent installers and businesses, giving homeowners assurance that competency and compliance with standards are met.  Businesses, if certified, can list their business as a TrustMark Registered Business, and give homeowners the assurance that they are accessing the most comprehensive level of protection available.
