In Hertfordshire we are lucky to have great provision for training with all of our main colleges offering courses and apprenticeship options in beauty, hairdressing and barbering, as well as several Independent Training Providers for more specialist or flexible training in areas such as wigs, weaves, hair extensions and nail techniques.
The ever growing Film, Media and Creative industry in Hertfordshire, also opens up other opportunities for those in the Hair and Beauty industry with hair and make up designers being used as an important part for actors to help portray characters or to ensure screen stars are camera ready.

Skills
GCSE Maths and English Level 4 and above
If you are self-employed you will need to use Maths to work out your over heads (how much money you need to charge to make sure you are making money), the cost of products and equipment and how much clients bills are for all the services you have supplied. If you are employed, you may work on commission so will need to use Maths to work out how much you are earning. If you permanently colour, straighten or curl hair, you will need to ensure that you use the right ratio of chemicals so will need maths to do this.
